WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH AN INTERACTIVE WAND?
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is divided into different areas that are designed to look like the movie sets we all know and love. There’s Diagon Alley, where Harry first set foot in the magical world before attending Hogwarts School. Knockturn Alley, a spooky destination where unusual items and fellows can be found. And Hogsmeade, a quaint village where Hogwarts students can go to unwind on the weekends.
In these areas of the Wizarding World park, waving your interactive wand will allow you to control parts of the attractions. It feels like you are really casting spells. All you need to do is stand at locations marked by a medallion on the ground. These will indicate the direction in which to point your wand. Then perform the correct wand movement for the spell. And of course, the spell itself. (The magic is in cleverly disguised infrared cameras which can detect wrist movement when a wand is pointed at them!)

In Diagon Alley
- Wingardium Leviosa – Levitate a feather quill in Scribbulus
- Silencio – Make a noisy bird in the window of Magical Menagerie stop squawking
- Reparo – Repair a suit of armor at Brown E. Wright’s blacksmithing shop
In Knockturn Alley
- Mimblewimble – Silence talking heads near Dystyl Phalanges
- Alohomora – Unlock a door at the courtyard near Borgin and Burkes (but be careful when you turn the knob—you will be blown by a burst of air!)
- Incendio – Light a candle at the courtyard, which will emit magical fumes and special effects
In Hogsmeade
- Revelio – Open a box displayed in Honeydukes to reveal a chocolate frog
- Herbivicus – Make a flower bloom in the display of Dogweed and Deathcap
- Arresto Momentum – Play a music box in Dervish and Banges

WHAT KIND OF INTERACTIVE WAND CAN I GET?
You’ve probably wondered what it feels like to be Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, or even Voldemort. The interactive wands come in the designs of these and other characters’. But you can also try looking for the ideal wand for you according to a special selection of wood types. These are inspired by the Celtic tree calendar.
These wands don’t belong to any named characters in the Harry Potter universe, so the wand that chooses you is sure to be extra special!
You can try out wands based on your birthday or a significant life event, or even based on the qualities attributed to the wood “used” for the wand. If you need help in choosing, you can refer to a chart displayed at the shop or talk to a friendly attendant.
HOW MUCH DO INTERACTIVE WANDS COST?
Purchased online, interactive wands start at around $55, or at least $6 more than standard replica wands available. But with the literally magical experience, it is so worth it!

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT INTERACTIVE WANDS?
Interactive wands are nearly identical to their less magical counterparts, being made of durable resin that is hand-painted and carved to look like wood, with minor differences in size. They are officially licensed merchandise by both Universal and Warner Bros., so they are worthy additions to your Harry Potter collection.
Since their magic works with the cameras at the Wizarding World, remember that you won’t be able to cast spells anywhere else! At home, they will be just like their non-interactive counterparts.
