Ron Weasley on the nature of dragons

Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid loved and adored dragons. He briefly sheltered a Norwegian Ridgeback named Norbert, who later turned out to be female and was renamed Norberta. Hagrid later gave Norberta to Charlie Weasley, who worked with dragons in Romania. Charlie was the one who discovered that Norberta was a female, as they tend to be more violent and ferocious. Well, here, you will be getting a Hungarian Horntail!

Dragons were used in the first task of the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. In the task, the champions had to rescue a golden egg from the resting mother dragon. Can you retrieve the golden egg from the LEGO Harry Potter dragon?

Uses of Dragons in the Magical World

Dragons have been useful to wizards and witches for centuries in many ways. Dragon blood has been used as a cleaner and as well as in potions. Dragon claws are supposedly brain stimulants.

Dragon eggs were classified as a Class-A Non-Tradeable Material by the Ministry of Magic. However, despite the ban, many dragon eggs were still being traded in the black market. Chinese Fireball egg shells were highly valuable as they were one of the ingredients for a potion by the Chinese witches and wizards.

One of the most common materials sourced from dragons were their heartstring. Dragon heartstring was commonly used as a core in wands. It was exceptionally powerful and lent the wizard an unmatchable magical prowess. Famously, Harry Potter’s wand was made out of a dragon heartstring core.

History of the Hungarian Horntail

The Hungarian Horntail species is native to Hungary. It is one of the most dangerous dragon breeds.  It has black scales and a lizard-like appearance. Its eyes are yellow and vertical-shaped like that of a cat. The horns of this dragon are bronze in color. Similar color spikes protrude from its long tail. It deploys the spike when in combat and can knock down its opponent in one blow.

The dragon had a ferocious roar- which was a yowling, screeching scream.

Harry’s encounter with the Hungarian Horntail

Harry encounters the dragon at the first task during the Triwizard Tournament. Ron Weasley’s brother, Charlie Weasley, helped transport the dragon from Romania.

During the first task, Harry had to retrieve a golden egg from the nest of the Hungarian Horntail. Harry had to face a Hungarian Horntail as he had selected a tiny model representing the dragon from a bag offered by Bartemius Crouch Sr.

He used his Firebolt broomstick to lead the dragon astray. Harry retrieved the egg from the nest with success.
