This set will keep all you Harry Potter fans entertained for hours. Plus it has 2 unique bonuses. The Harry Potter Clock Tower lego set features in 2 of the Harry Potter movies. The all time favorite (and my favorite) the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Goblet of Fire. However, the Lego set focuses on the Goblet of fire. Which is pretty cool.
The cool aspects of the Harry Potter Clock tower Lego
1. Exclusive Minifigures
The first bonus to this set is that it has lots of great characters; that are all exclusive minifigues to this set. There are 8 Minifigures in total. Including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Fleur Delacour, Cedric Diggory, Viktor Krum, Albus Dumbledore and Madame Maxime. What’s really cool is they all wear their dress robes and gowns. The detail is taken from the Yule ball scene in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Just bear in mind that there are a lot of stickers that provide the detail rather than printed pieces for this set. So it can be a bit fiddly at times.
2. Unique Building techniques
The other great bonus to this set is the unique building techniques that it offers. The clock tower is over 3 floors and includes; The entrance hall, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, the hospital wing, the prefects’ bathroom, Dumbledore’s office, and the icy ballroom.
The first of the interesting building techniques is that the clock tower’s hands are made with a spanner and wrench. It’s a cute addition and once built it is great for playing with. Secondly, the icy ballroom is set up for celebrating the Yule Ball. So to simulate this it has a rotating platform to allow the figures to waltz. The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom also has lots of great detail.
What do I get with the Harry Potter Clock tower lego set?
- The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom has everything you need to teach a good class, such as tables, chairs, potions, showcases, books, …
- In the Prefect bathroom you’ll construct a traditional stained glass window with the drawing of a mermaid.
- Dumbledore’s office includes his desk, an ink pen, the pensieve and, of course, the Gryffindor sword.
- Yule Dance Scene: includes the Christmas tree, a glacier sculpture that you must build, and two glasses.
- Some of the Minifigures also have their wands which is cool.
- The whole structure measures around 35 cm high, 34 cm wide and 18 cm deep.
Is the Harry Potter Clock Tower Lego set Compatibile with other sets?
Yes!, The Harry Potter Clock Tower Lego connects really well with some of the other Harry Potter Lego series, however the Hogwarts castle (71043 Hogwarts™ Castle) is really huge and a different scale from this series. In saying that customers have said it still works well together. The sets that combine with this one are 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall and 75953 Hogwarts™ Whomping Willow.
By all accounts, it is very easy to build while including some interesting and unique techniques, the recommended age is over 9 years, but I think younger builders will be ok.
This kit has everything you need to have a good time building and playing! I like that it has lots of my favorite minifigure characters and Ron is in his old fashioned dress robes- I just keep seeing Ginny saying “I’m not wearing that it’s ghastly” LOL.
