LEGO QUIDDITCH

History of the Quidditch World Cup

The guidebook, The Official Guide to the Quidditch World Cup, documented the game since its inception in 1473. The International Confederation of Wizards’ Quidditch Committee published the book.

During the 15th and the 16th centuries only, European countries participated.

Some scholars count the inception of the Quidditch World Cup from the 17th C., as it was from then the competition opened up to all continents.

However, there remains some dispute over the accuracy of the historical accounts of this tournament.

How Teams Qualified and Played for the Quidditch World Cup

The tournament had sixteen groups of teams. The group phase matches lasted for over two years. During the group phase, each player got a cap of four hours to avoid getting exhausted.

In some cases, the game ended after four hours of play, and no one caught the Golden Snitch. Then they declared the result based on who scored the most goals.

Winning the game will earn the team two points. Additionally, a win by 150 points will earn them five points. A win by 100 points will get them an extra three points, and a win by 50 points would earn them one extra point.

For instance, let’s say two teams had the same points. Then they would qualify if their Seeker catches the Snitch before the other. The Seeker gave the team a winning 150 points. Harry, the Gryffindor Seeker in the 1991-1992 season, caught the Golden Snitch, securing a win for Gryffindor against Slytherin.

The sixteen teams that finished on the top of each group qualified for the World Cup.

The 1994 Quidditch World Cup

The 1994 Quidditch World Cup took place in Dartmoor, England. The Trio and many other prominent wizards and witches attended the match.

Draco and Lucius Malfoy, Amos and Cedric Diggory, Professor Dumbledore and the Minister of Magic, Bartemius Crouch Sr. attended the match. It was the 422nd Quidditch World Cup final.

You, too, can now conduct your Quidditch match.

We found this LEGO set that will make you want to host your very own LEGO Harry Potter Quidditch match.

Harry Potter the Burrow: An Overview

The location of the Burrow is on the grounds which was home to a Tudor building. It was initially a small pigeon. After Arthur and Molly Weasley had more children, they kept on adding on floors to accommodate their big family. By the 1990s, the house had several stories and four or five chimneys.

The building was the Weasley family home. All the nine Weasley siblings lived at the Burrow at some point together and separately. They all moved out over the years. Even if the Weasleys were poor, they were never ashamed of their situation. They always lived together and comfortably in a calm atmosphere. For friends and visitors, the Burrow was a welcoming place. Build a safe and happy home with the best LEGO Harry Potter the Burrow!

History of Harry Potter the Burrow

In 1996, Bill Weasley’s fiancée Fleur Delacour moved in the Burrow much to the annoyance of Hermoine, Molly, and Ginny. Dumbledore also asked Harry to stay at the Burrow for the rest of the holidays. Enjoy your holidays in the best LEGO Harry Potter the Burrow!

Harry Potter the Burrow and Order of The Phoenix

After Dumbledore died in 1997, the Burrow became the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix, which was previously at the 12 Grimmauld Place. Everyone who knew the new location protected it with the Fidelius Charm.

In July of 1997, the Burrow became the rendezvous location for the Order to guide Harry Potter safely from 4 Privet Drive, just days before his seventeenth birthday. As the Order needed to protect Harry, they put numerous protective spells to defend the Burrow to make sure that both Harry and the Weasleys were safe from Voldemort and Death Eaters. You won’t find a safer stay than the best LEGO Harry Potter the Burrow!

Harry Potter the Burrow After Voldemort Seized the Ministry

Bill and Fleur got to the Burrow in 1997. At their wedding, the Patronus spent by Kingsley Shacklebolt declared that Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters had seized the Ministry. They were now heading towards the Burrow. As the Death Eaters broke the protective spell barriers, Harry along with Hermoine and Ron fled the scene.

Harry Potter the Burrow After Abandoned by the Weasleys

In 1998, the Weasleys abandoned the Burrow. The Death Eaters had finally figured out that the Weasleys were “blood-traitors”, because of their ties with the Order and for helping Harry. Ron avoided school on the pretext of pretending to be sick. He disguised the family ghoul as himself, sick with Spattergroit.

But after the incident at Malfoy Manor, the suspicion about the Weasleys being “blood-traitors” solidified. Fearing reprisals from the Dark Lord and his faithful Death Eaters, the Weasleys stayed at Aunt Muriel’s and Shell Cottage that was still protected by the Fidelius Charm.

In the books, it is unknown if the Weasleys returned to the Burrow after the Second Wizarding War.

It’s hard to stop Muggles noticing us if we’re keeping dragons in the back garden — any way you can’t tame dragons, it’s dangerous.

Ron Weasley on the nature of dragons

Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid loved and adored dragons. He briefly sheltered a Norwegian Ridgeback named Norbert, who later turned out to be female and was renamed Norberta. Hagrid later gave Norberta to Charlie Weasley, who worked with dragons in Romania. Charlie was the one who discovered that Norberta was a female, as they tend to be more violent and ferocious. Well, here, you will be getting a Hungarian Horntail!

Dragons were used in the first task of the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. In the task, the champions had to rescue a golden egg from the resting mother dragon. Can you retrieve the golden egg from the LEGO Harry Potter dragon?

Uses of Dragons in the Magical World

Dragons have been useful to wizards and witches for centuries in many ways. Dragon blood has been used as a cleaner and as well as in potions. Dragon claws are supposedly brain stimulants.

Dragon eggs were classified as a Class-A Non-Tradeable Material by the Ministry of Magic. However, despite the ban, many dragon eggs were still being traded in the black market. Chinese Fireball egg shells were highly valuable as they were one of the ingredients for a potion by the Chinese witches and wizards.

One of the most common materials sourced from dragons were their heartstring. Dragon heartstring was commonly used as a core in wands. It was exceptionally powerful and lent the wizard an unmatchable magical prowess. Famously, Harry Potter’s wand was made out of a dragon heartstring core.

History of the Hungarian Horntail

The Hungarian Horntail species is native to Hungary. It is one of the most dangerous dragon breeds.  It has black scales and a lizard-like appearance. Its eyes are yellow and vertical-shaped like that of a cat. The horns of this dragon are bronze in color. Similar color spikes protrude from its long tail. It deploys the spike when in combat and can knock down its opponent in one blow.

The dragon had a ferocious roar- which was a yowling, screeching scream.

Harry’s encounter with the Hungarian Horntail

Harry encounters the dragon at the first task during the Triwizard Tournament. Ron Weasley’s brother, Charlie Weasley, helped transport the dragon from Romania.

During the first task, Harry had to retrieve a golden egg from the nest of the Hungarian Horntail. Harry had to face a Hungarian Horntail as he had selected a tiny model representing the dragon from a bag offered by Bartemius Crouch Sr.

He used his Firebolt broomstick to lead the dragon astray. Harry retrieved the egg from the nest with success.
