Just bear in mind that there are a lot of stickers that provide the detail rather than printed pieces for this set. So it can be a bit fiddly at times.

2. Unique Building techniques

The other great bonus to this set is the unique building techniques that it offers. The clock tower is over 3 floors and includes; The entrance hall, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, the hospital wing, the prefects’ bathroom, Dumbledore’s office, and the icy ballroom.

The first of the interesting building techniques is that the clock tower’s hands are made with a spanner and wrench. It’s a cute addition and once built it is great for playing with. Secondly, the icy ballroom is set up for celebrating the Yule Ball. So to simulate this it has a rotating platform to allow the figures to waltz. The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom also has lots of great detail.

What do I get with the Harry Potter Clock tower lego set?

The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom has everything you need to teach a good class, such as tables, chairs, potions, showcases, books, …
In the Prefect bathroom you’ll construct a traditional stained glass window with the drawing of a mermaid.
Dumbledore’s office includes his desk, an ink pen, the pensieve and, of course, the Gryffindor sword.
Yule Dance Scene: includes the Christmas tree, a glacier sculpture that you must build, and two glasses.
Some of the Minifigures also have their wands which is cool.
The whole structure measures around 35 cm high, 34 cm wide and 18 cm deep.

Is the Harry Potter Clock Tower Lego set Compatibile with other sets?

Yes!, The Harry Potter Clock Tower Lego connects really well with some of the other Harry Potter Lego series, however the Hogwarts castle (71043 Hogwarts™ Castle) is really huge and a different scale from this series. In saying that customers have said it still works well together. The sets that combine with this one are 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall and 75953 Hogwarts™ Whomping Willow.

By all accounts, it is very easy to build while including some interesting and unique techniques, the recommended age is over 9 years, but I think younger builders will be ok.

This kit has everything you need to have a good time building and playing! I like that it has lots of my favorite minifigure characters and Ron is in his old fashioned dress robes- I just keep seeing Ginny saying “I’m not wearing that it’s ghastly” LOL.

TIP: For buying on Amazon (generally US customers or if shipping from the US); Just watch your postage choices. If you are buying this as a gift or you want it to come inside an alternate box for safe delivery, be sure to choose the STANDARD delivery option. 4 Simple Steps To Make Your Own Harry Potter Wand

I love the Harry Potter books and the idea of having my own Harry Potter Wand was exciting. So I decided to make my own.

What makes up a Harry Potter wand?

I am sure you remember Harry Potter’s first trip to Diagon Alley and his experience in Ollivanders. “The wand chooses the wizard Harry” Harry’s wand is holly and phoenix feather measuring 11″ ‘nice and supple’ . There are three main parts to any wand. The wood, the core and the length.

In Harry Potter they talk about a few different types of tree that their wands are made from. These trees are Acacia, Alder, Apple, Ash, Aspen, Beech, Blackthorn, Black walnut, Cedar, Cherry, Chestnut, Cypress, Dogwood, Ebony, Elder, Elm, English Oak, Fir, Hawthorn, Hazel, Holly, Hornbeam, Larch, Laurel, Maple, Pear, Pine, Poplar, Red Oak, Redwood, Rowan, Silver Lime, Spruce, Sycamore, Vine, Walnut, Willow and Yew. How to make your own Harry Potter wand

Step 1

The first step to making a wand is to go around your neighbourhood and look for one of the trees or plants listed above, If you don’t have any in your neighbourhood then choose one you like. I live in Australia so my wand is made of Boxtree wood. They are all along my street.

Step 2

The next step is to find a stick laying around that is about the width and length you like. Mine was a bit too long so I snapped the end off. If the stick is in a shape you don’t like you can carve or file it with help from your parents into the shape that you would like.

Step 3

Which brings us to the next part which is the length. Wands are about 8″- 18″. The shortest wand measures 8″ and belongs to Dolores Umbridge. While Lucius Malfoy owns the longest at 18″. J.K Rowling measures the wands in inches. But if you are used to metric measurements that is about 20cm-45 cm. So choose your length and work out what it is in inches.

Step 4

The final and most important part of a wand is the core. J.K Rowling talks about the magical substance inside the core of each wand which gives it it’s magical power. Some of the substances are: Unicorn Hair, Dragon Heart-string and Phoenix Feather, Thestral Tail Hair, Dittany Stalk, Troll whisker and Basilisk Horn. My wand is Phoenix Feather. So choose your magical substance (or see below to have your wand choose you) and you are done!

And that is how I made my wand! Just be careful with Expelliarmus, my wand was on the roof for a week!
